MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 01st February, 2019) The recent decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to sanction 12 Russian track and field athletes over anti-doping rules violations will not affect process of reinstatement of the Russian Athletics Federation (RusAF), the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) told Sputnik on Friday.

Earlier in the day, CAS ruled to suspend 12 Russian athletes for periods from two to eight years for their violations of anti-doping rules in 2012 and 2013.

"There is no change in the reinstatement process of RusAF," the IAAF press service said in response to a question of whether the CAS decision could affect RusAF reinstatement.

RusAF membership in the IAAF was suspended in 2015 amid accusations of numerous violations of WADA anti-doping rules by Russian athletes.
