UAQ CP issues resolution to form Special Olympics 2019 steering committee

UMM AL QAIWAIN, (Pakistan Point News - 30th Jan, 2019) H.H. Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mu'alla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Qaiwain and Chairman of Umm Al Qaiwain Executive Council, issued a resolution to form a steering committee for the Special Olympics 2019, which is being managed by Aliaa Mohammed Al Ghafly, Director-General of the Department of Tourism and Antiquities, and include the membership of local and Federal departments in the emirate.

The resolution stipulates that Mira Al Mehrezi, Director of Tourism Administration at the Department of Tourism and Antiquities, will head the committee.

The resolution is in line with the emirate’s keenness to encourage the community to integrate people with mental disabilities, as well as joint work between all government and private institutions and community members, to promote the concept of inclusion and create an integrated model city for everyone.

The resolution states that the committee's tasks will include communicating and coordinating with the Higher Committee for the Special Olympics 2019, help promote cooperation between officials and hosting cities, prepare a plan for the emirate’s hosting of the Olympics, coordinate with the public and private sectors, accompany the Olympics’ participants, and undertake other relevant tasks.

It also stipulates that the committee will hold its meeting upon an invitation from its president and document its recommendations in the form of minutes, which will be signed by the committee’s president and its members.
