MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th January, 2019) The first prototype of a supersonic business jet is expected to make its maiden flight in 2027, Russia's Tupolev aircraft manufacturer said Monday."The development of a supersonic business-class aircraft is planned in two phases. The first stage is the development of a demonstration aircraft, whose first flight is scheduled for 2024, while the second stage is the development of a prototype, whose maiden flight is scheduled for 2027," Mikhail Mikulochkin, a department head at Tupolev, said.
Mikulochkin added that the cost of R&D, including the construction of a demonstration aircraft, is estimated at over 42 billion rubles (over $630 million at current exchange rate), while the construction of a mass-production business jet could cost six billion rubles
