Russian Deputy Prime Minister to Meet With Iraqi Foreign Minister on Wednesday - Moscow

Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohamed Alhakim will meet with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov on Wednesday during his visit to Moscow, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th January, 2019) Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohamed Alhakim will meet with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov on Wednesday during his visit to Moscow, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

On January 18, it was reported that Alhakim would meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on January 30. The ministers will discuss urgent global and regional issues with a focus on the situation around Syria and Iran, as well as on the consolidation of efforts to counter international terrorism and extremism.

"In the light of the 8th meeting of the Russian-Iraqi commission for trade, economic and scientific cooperation scheduled for spring 2019 in Baghdad, the co-chairs of the commission, Yury Borisov and Mohamed Alhakim, are also scheduled to meet on January 30. During the meeting, the parties plan to analyze in detail the state and possibilities for further promotion of bilateral business cooperation," the ministry said in a statement.

Special attention will be paid to cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, including the projects of Russia's Lukoil and Gazprom Neft in Iraq, the ministry said.

The parties will also discuss agriculture and industry, including projects related to the post-conflict reconstruction of Iraq, it added.

During the visit, Alhakim will also meet with the leadership of both houses of the Russian parliament.
