MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 27th January, 2019) Israel is ever conscious of the role of the Red Army in the defeat of Nazism in World War II and proud of feats of hundreds of thousands of Jewish soldiers who fought in its ranks, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday.
The prime minister recorded a video message marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day annually celebrated on January 27, the day of the liberation of the Nazi Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.
"Today we remember fallen, but also heroes. Heroes who fought and sacrificed their lives to stop the Nazi monster ... We never forget about the role of the Red Army, do not forget feats of Jewish heroes who fought in its ranks, do not forget veterans," Netanyahu said.
The Holocaust was a genocide during World War II in which the Nazi Germany and its allies killed around 6 million of Jews.
