Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 26th January) German Ambassador to Pakistan Martin Kobler visited a shelter home on Friday.

The German ambassador shared potato-egg curry with some of the homeless and listened to their moving stories.

At the same time, he raised a very pertinent question that how can one support a family of six to eight people with just Rs 400 income per day.

“Visited a shelter home in #Islamabad. Admire the work of the staff, but sad to see so many ppl cannot afford meals. Shared potato-egg curry with some of the homeless & listened their moving stories. How can one support a family of 6-8 with 400rs income per-day?” he wrote on Twitter.

A number of such shelter homes are being established on the directive of the Prime Minister to provide a living place for homeless people.

Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated state of the art Shelters Homes for orphans, street children and homeless people as part of 100 days plan of the PTI government.

The project is aimed at restoring the self-respect of those people who spend the night under the open sky besides broadening the circle of social responsibility by the state and citizens.

Over 100-bed have been arranged inside the shelter homes to accommodate the poor. Women and homeless people will also be housed in the shelters. The PM was informed that the shelter homes has been established in line with PTI government policy to provide best possible facilities to the needy and deserving people.

The relevant staff have been posted in the shelters homes for proper look after of the inmates of the shelter homes.
