RABAT (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 26th January, 2019) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov praised on Friday Morocco's role in uniting Africa and therefore ensuring it has a proper place in the international arena.
"Morocco, in its relations with its African partners, has played a very important role in developing projects that bring Africa together in order to give Africa the place it deserves in the international arena," Lavrov said at a joint press conference with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.
He also praised Morocco's "long-standing" policy in international affairs.
"Morocco, thanks to the policy of his majesty the king, maintains stability in this rather turbulent region. And we are interested in the fact that the same stability would prevail in other countries," Lavrov said.
The Russian foreign minister praised the "good understanding" between the Russian and the Moroccan delegations in the United Nations.
Earlier in the day, Lavrov and Bourita held a meeting in the Moroccan capital of Rabat to discuss bilateral ties, and also the situations in the middle East and in Northern Africa.
