US House Intel Panel to Release All Files to Mueller in Wake of Stone Indictment

The US House Intelligence Committee is going to release all remaining Russia-related files to Special Counsel Robert Mueller after another witness was indicted for lying to the panel, committee's chairman Adam Schiff said in a press release on Friday

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 25th January, 2019) The US House Intelligence Committee is going to release all remaining Russia-related files to Special Counsel Robert Mueller after another witness was indicted for lying to the panel, committee's chairman Adam Schiff said in a press release on Friday.

Earlier in the day, former Trump associate Roger Stone was arrested in the US state of Florida and charged for making false statements related to the hacking of the Democratic Party's networks during the 2016 election.

"This [Stone] is now the second witness who has been indicted for or plead guilty to making false statements in testimony before our Committee," Schiff said. "Neither we nor the Special Counsel will tolerate efforts by any person to impede any investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 election... The first order of business for the Committee will be to release all remaining transcripts to the Special Counsel's Office, and we will continue to follow the facts wherever they lead."

The indictment of Stone, Schiff added, provides new and important details about the Trump campaign's effort to acquire damaging information on Hillary Clinton including documents stolen by Russian agents and provided to WikiLeaks.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller is investigating allegations of Russian meddling in the 2016 US election, accusations that Moscow has repeatedly denied. Russian officials insist that the allegations were invented to excuse the election loss of a presidential candidate as well as deflect public attention from actual instances of election fraud and corruption.
