CAIRO (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd January, 2019) The Egyptian Armed Forces said on Tuesday that the country's servicemen and police killed 59 extremists during anti-terror operations on the Sinai Peninsula over the recent weeks.
A total of 44 extremists were eliminated by the army, and another 15 were killed during police operations, according to the statement. Several dozen vehicles, communication tools, weapons, explosives, and ammunition were destroyed or seized.
Seven Egyptian servicemen were killed during clashes with extremists.
Since February 2018, the Egyptian Armed Forces have been carrying out the Sinai-2018 counterterrorism operation, eliminating or detaining hundreds of militants.
