TASHKENT (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd January, 2019) Uzbekistan's trade with Russia increased by 21.2% in 2018 compared to the previous year and reached $5.73 billion, the Uzbek State Committee on Statistics said on Tuesday.
According to the statistics, Uzbekistan's exports to Russia hit $2.2 billion last year, rising by 6.8 percent year-on-year, while the country's imports of Russian goods skyrocketed by 30.6 percent and totaled $3.5 billion.
Uzbekistan's trade deficit with Russia grew from $690 million in 2017 to almost $1.3 billion last year.
Russia has remained one of the Central Asian nation's key trading partners, accounting for 16.9 percent of Uzbekistan's trade, topped only by China with 19 percent.
