Prime Minister Imran Khan has issued a new policy for improving and upgrading the government and teaching hospitals. Under the policy, the provincial governments, federal and provincial ministers, and administrative machinery have been made responsible to oversee the hospitals.
Sources said that a report presented to the prime minister raised concerns about the poor situation of government hospitals in South Punjab, Interior Sindh and Balochistan.
Following the report, the prime minister directed the federal and provincial ministers and their families to go to government hospitals to get treatment.
The government prioritises adopting policies for its own ministers instead of mere promises and announcements.
The directives issued by the prime minister said that the step will improve the standard of the government hospitals and will address the concerns of the people.
The Federal Cabinet has directed the ministries to continue austerity measures and cut expenditures by 10 per cent as checking the government expenditure was crucial to overcome fiscal deficit.
