BRUSSELS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd January, 2019) The European Union hopes to attract investment by western companies into Ukraine's gas transport system by brokering a long-term contract with Russian supplier Gazprom, European Commission Vice President Maros Sefcovic said Monday.
"What is really necessary is that the contract [has] duration of 10 plus years... Volumes should be commercially viable. We will need to bring investors into the modernization and upgrade of the Ukrainian transmission system... It should be the same contract as Gazprom has with Western European companies," he told reporters in Brussels.
