Naftogaz Says May Reduce Claim Against Gazprom to $2Bln if New Transit Contract Signed

The amount of Ukraine's Naftogaz claim against Russia's Gazprom in gas transit dispute may be reduced from $12 billion to $2 billion if a new transit contract for period starting in 2020 is signed, Naftogaz Executive Director Yuriy Vitrenko said Monday

KIEV (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 21st January, 2019) The amount of Ukraine's Naftogaz claim against Russia's Gazprom in gas transit dispute may be reduced from $12 billion to $2 billion if a new transit contract for period starting in 2020 is signed, Naftogaz Executive Director Yuriy Vitrenko said Monday.

"In this case [the signing of a contract for transit after 2019], our claim will not be for $12 billion, but only for $2 billion. Because $2 billion is still the share of expenses that are not covered by the current tariff. Even without accelerated depreciation of the gas transit infrastructure," Vitrenko said as quoted by the Ukrinform news agency.
