Money can’t bring our loved ones back: Khalil’s brother

He questioned how someone could be termed a terrorist without investigation.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 21st January, 2019) The brother of Khalil, one of those killed in Sahiwal encounter, has criticised the authorities for compensating the family with Rs 2 crore.

Khalil said, “Those offering us Rs 2 crore should take the amount from us but bring us or loved ones back.”

Khalil said that the law minister claimed that he contacted the family while no contact was made.

He questioned how someone could be termed a terrorist without investigation.

He demanded to reveal the facts of the encounter.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has announced Rs 20 million compensation for the family of people killed in Sahiwal.

Four people including two women were killed during an action by CTD in Sahiwal on Saturday.

The deceased have been identified as 42-year-old Mohammad Khalil, his wife Nabila, 38, their 14-year-old daughter Areeba and Zeeshan Javed. They hailed from Kot Lakhpat.

Reportedly, the incident occurred at Qadirabad where a team of CTD Lahore, taking action against a suspected car, shot dead two men and two women.

Later, the CTD team took the bodies, children and other valuables from the vehicle. However, the team later on dropped the children at a filling station.

With the alleged shady encounter on a highway in Sahiwal district, a big question mark was posed on the functioning of Punjab Police.

The victims were first declared as kidnappers and then as terrorists from a proscribed group by the police force, which raised eyebrows on the alleged shootout, followed by contradictory witnesses' narratives.

A case has been registered at the Yousafwala police station.
