Russia Should Improve Foreign Relations to Boost GDP Growth - Accounts Chamber Head

Russia should seek to improve its relationships with other nations because it otherwise risks not being able to catch up with the global average for economic growth, Russian Accounts Chamber Chairman Alexei Kudrin said on Wednesday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 16th January, 2019) Russia should seek to improve its relationships with other nations because it otherwise risks not being able to catch up with the global average for economic growth, Russian Accounts Chamber Chairman Alexei Kudrin said on Wednesday.

"Domestic demand does not pull our economy to 3 percent [of growth]. Russia may reach 3.5 percent, which is the global growth, if we can increase [non-commodity] exports to global markets... In order to solve the problem of foreign market entry, receive technologies from there, supply finished products there, and build global value chains, we need to improve our relations with other countries," Kudrin said during the Gaidar Forum in Moscow.

He added that Russia should put effort into building a more complimentary world order.

"We need a more favorable world order and we must strive for it and promote it. We must understand that without it the indicators of our economy [we are seek] are also not achievable," Kudrin added.

The 10th Gaidar Forum is being held in Moscow on January 15-17. The organizers of the forum are the Russian Presidential academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy (Gaidar Institute) and Association of Innovative Regions of Russia.
