MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th January, 2019) Member of UK Parliament Gareth Johnson said on Monday he was resigning as a whip of the ruling Conservative Party over his personal disagreement with the Brexit deal negotiated by the government.The parliament will vote on the withdrawal agreement on Tuesday.
"It is with regret that I hereby tender my resignation as a Minister in the Government Whips' Office," Johnson wrote in a letter to Prime Minister Theresa May published on his Facebook.
Johnson cited "personal objections" to the Brexit deal, in particular, the backstop solution for the Irish border.
