Two robbers arrested in Karachi for taking selfies on stolen phone

Karachi (Pakistan Point News – 13th January, 2018) In a rare case, two street criminals were arrested for taking selfies on a stolen phone.

The police arrested them after they revealed their identities by taking selfies on the same phone which were automatically uploaded to the victim’s Google account.

The accused, Nadeem and Majid, had robbed a woman, Erum Altaf, in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase VI on December 27 and an FIR of the crime was registered with Darakhshan police.

The robbers, it seems, were little tech savvy as they unknowingly used the phone to take selfies.

These pictures were notified to the original owner of the phone and this was when the police captured them with the help of Nadra. The identities of the suspects were confirmed through a cross-match with Nadra records.

Nadeem and Majid were later picked up by the police and recovered the stolen phone and two illegal weapons from their possession.

The phone was returned to its rightful owner while criminal proceedings have been initiated launched the accused.
