European Commission President Rules Out Prospect Of Brexit Deal Renegotiation

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 12th January, 2019) The European Union will not renegotiate its divorce deal with the United Kingdom, the European Commission President, Jean-Claude Juncker, said, leaving the prospect for UK lawmakers to vote only the existing draft of the deal.

"We have negotiated a Withdrawal Agreement with the British government. This is our final offer. We can add clarifications but we will not renegotiate. The choice is: accept or reject it," Juncker said, as quoted by his deputy chief spokeswoman Mina Andreeva in a tweet on Friday.

The United Kingdom is set to leave the European Union on March 29. London and Brussels have reached the withdrawal agreement, which both need to ratify on the parliamentary level.

In the United Kingdom, particularly, the parliamentary vote is scheduled to be held for Tuesday after being repeatedly put off. However, various UK lawmakers have expressed their disapproval of the deal, leaving the prospect for the disorderly UK withdrawal from the European Union and the collapse of the UK government.

In mid-December, European heads of state and government said after their EU27 meeting on Brexit that the UK withdrawal deal was not open for renegotiation between the parties.
