BEIJING (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th January, 2019) Chinese Premier Li Keqiang offered Tesla Inc Chief Executive Elon Musk a Chinese residency permit, an equivalent to the US Green Card, during a meeting in Beijing, the Chinese State Council said in a press release on Thursday.Li and Musk met in the Chinese capital on Wednesday after launching the construction of a Tesla electric car factory - Tesla Gigafactory 3 - in Shanghai. Musk said at the meeting that he wanted to build the Shanghai factory into "a global example," stressing that he loved China and wanted to come there more often.
"If this is what you truly have in mind, we could issue you a residency permit for foreign nationals," Li responded to Musk's remark as quoted in the press release.
According to the State Council, the $7.3 billion plant, whose construction was launched on Wednesday, is the largest ever production project wholly owned by a foreign company in China. Once completed, the plant is expected to have a production capacity of 500,000 vehicles a year, the State Council added.
