ABU DHABI, (Pakistan Point News - 09th Jan, 2019) Nasser Mohammed Al Junaibi, Acting CEO of the Farmers’ Services Centre, has highlighted the importance of farmers’ markets to supporting farm owners and the local community.

He said that these markets have become a key marketing tool, as they enable farm owners to sell their products directly and acquire experience in retail sales, as well as provide a renewable weekly income.

The centre today inaugurated a farmers’ market in Al Khubaissi, Al Ain, with support from the Food Security Centre in Abu Dhabi, coinciding with the harvest season. The market has 39 stalls and will be open weekly from Thursday to Saturday, from 10th January to the end of May 2019.

Al Junaibi stressed that the centre has intensified its efforts, during the 2018-2019 agricultural season, to open new markets, to benefit many regions of the emirate while noting that the markets are an opportunity to promote local products and highlighting their advantages, as well as the slogan, "Our Farms Harvest," which is a trademark introduced by the centre to promote local products.

Al Junaibi thanked the centre and praised the keenness of farmers to participate in the markets and present their best products.

He called on consumers to visit the markets, to support Abu Dhabi’s farmers and promote trust in local products while affirming that the cooperation between all relevant parties will assist the development of the local agricultural sector and ensure food security.
