Russia Registers 1 Ceasefire Violation in Syria Over Past 24 Hours - Defense Ministry

The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire has recorded one ceasefire violation in the country over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side has registered four truce breaches, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 08th January, 2019) The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire has recorded one ceasefire violation in the country over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side has registered four truce breaches, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.

"Over the last 24 hours, the Russian party of the Russia-Turkey Commission on violations of the Joint Agreement has registered one case of firing in the province of Aleppo ... The Turkish party of the Russia-Turkey Commission on violations of the Joint Agreement has registered four cases of firing in the province of Hama," the ministry said in its daily bulletin.

The Russian Centre for Syrian reconciliation has also held one humanitarian operation in Arbin, Damascus province, delivering 500 food sets with a total weight of 2,165 tonnes.

The number of areas that signed reconciliation agreements has remained the same and currently amounts to 2,518. The number of armed formations claiming that they observe the ceasefire stands similarly at 234, the bulletin added.

Russia, alongside Iran and Turkey, is a guarantor of the ceasefire in Syria. Moscow has also been assisting Damascus both through supporting the struggle against the terrorist groups and by providing humanitarian aid to the residents of the crisis-torn country.
