Don't force us to give arrest orders for Malik Riaz: CJP

The CJP said that he will send the JIT report to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) after further investigation.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 7th January, 2019) Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has said that he shouldn’t be forced to issue arrest warrants for Bahria Town chairman Malik Riaz.

A hearing on fake bank accounts case is underway in the Supreme Court.

When Malik Riaz’s counsel appeared before the court and tried speaking in his client’s defence, the CJP remarked, “We have enough evidence against Malik Riaz.”

“Don’t force us to give arrest orders for Malik Riaz. The whole team appears to save the big fish. Everyone tries to prove Malik Riaz innocent,” he said.

The CJP said that he will send the report to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) after further investigation. Then the matter will depend on NAB and these people.

The CJP then questioned the counsel, “You say Malik Riaz is an honest man? We have sought a reply in the JIT report. Clarify your position.”

The Supreme Court had on Friday directed to unfreeze all accounts of Bahria Town and Malir Development Authority.

Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar while heading a three-judge bench remarked that the court had only ordered to monitor two bank accounts of the society not to freeze all of them.

On December 31, 2018, Bahria Town Chairman Malik Riaz said that he wants to settle everything with the orders of Supreme Court.

During the hearing, CJP Mian Saqib Nisar questioned why Malik Riaz’s name appears everywhere.

“Are you doing legal work in Karachi?” the CJP asked.

To this, Bahria Town chairman said that he wants to settle everything.

Upon this, the CJP said that I had demanded Rs 1000 billion from you, you should submit them.

The CJP said, “You are running the country. Return the country’s money back. Keep the billions you need to spend your life and return the rest. You make and break the governments and then you say you were not aware of a plot.”

Malik Riaz then said that he has never run the country. “You can confiscate my properties if you want. You can take Ali Riaz’s house if you want. You should thank God a 70-storey building has been built in Pakistan,” he said.
