Azam Swati’s resignation still not accepted: Report

The minister had decided to resign from the office till the decision of the case against him.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 5th January, 2018) The resignation of Minister for Science and Technology Azam Swati has still not been accepted.

According to a news report published in a local newspaper, the documents of Cabinet Division shows that Azam Swati’s name is placed on 24th number in the list of Federal ministers who have tendered their resignation.

The Cabinet Division had to issue a notification after the prime minister’s approval to the resignation. However, the resignation has still not been accepted and a notification is also not issued.

Sources said that Azam Swati is hopeful to again get the charge of the ministry after next week’s hearing in the Supreme Court.

Azam Swati himself is of the view that Cabinet Division had issued the notification the day he submitted his resignation.

Minister for Science and Technology Azam Swati had tendered his resignation to Prime Minister in a meeting at the PM Office on December 6, 2018.

The minister had decided to resign from the office till the decision of the case against him.

Swati is, currently, under investigation for alleged misuse of authority and the Supreme Court of Pakistan had decided on Wednesday to try him under Article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution.

The chief justice had taken suo motu notice of the transfer of Inspector General of Police Islamabad Jan Muhammad on October 27, 2018 for allegedly refusing to take action on the complaint by Swati's son regarding fight over purported encroachment by a family at their farmhouse.
