The Justice Department has directed officials to examine how to modify the anti-discrimination rules, referred to as "disparate impact," the report said citing an internal department document.
"Disparate impact is a critical framework to secure opportunities and equality for people of color, women, and others struggling under the weight of present-day and historical discrimination," the release said. "It is shameful that this administration is considering dismantling tools to fight discrimination rather than using its power to foster respect for the dignity and equality of all people."
The ACLU said the rules are needed to neutralize hidden biases that would otherwise prevent a level playing field for all US citizens.
