Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 3rd January, 2019) Maryam Nawaz on Thursday visited Kot Lakhpat jail and met her father Nawaz Sharif.
After her meeting, Maryam Nawaz tweeted that her father is fine and in high spirits.
“Just came out of Kotlakhpat jail. MNS was fine and Alhamdolillah in high spirits. Thank you everyone for your prayers, unflinching support & good wishes. God bless you all,” she wrote.
Nawaz Sharif was awarded seven years imprisonment along with fine of Rs1.5 billion and $25 million in the Al-Azizia corruption reference by the accountability court.
The accountability court on December 24, announced the verdict in a reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in light of the Supreme Court's 2016 Panamagate verdict.
Nawaz Sharif had challenged the verdict in the IHC. He requested declaring the accountability court's verdict null and void and also sought bail in the case.
However, the registrar of IHC raised objections and returned it by declaring incomplete and directed to file it again after removing objections.
