Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 1st January, 2019) The International cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday announced the direct qualifiers for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020.
Being the number one team, Pakistan qualified directly to the World Cup.
Other than Pakistan, India, England, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, the West Indies and Afghanistan also qualified directly to the tournament.
The top eight make it straight to the Super 12s stage. The remaining two teams will play in the group stage along with six other teams who will make it through from the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier in 2019.
Meanwhile, four teams from the group stage will advance to the Super 12s.
The T20 World Cup is scheduled to be held in Australia.
Former champions and three-time finalists Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will have to contend with the other six qualifiers in the group stage of the tournament, which will be held from October 18 to November 15, 2020.
The news has sent a wave of joy among the Pakistanis who can’t wait for the World Cup. They are excitedly looking forward to it.
West Indies is the current champions of the T20 World Cup.
