National Disaster Mitigation Agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said the 26-kilometre-deep earthquake did not cause a tsunami.
According to the Deutsche Presse-Agentur, DPA, "Officials have not reported any deaths or injuries from the quake."
"The epicentre was 55 kilometres south-east of South Manokwari in West Papua province," DPA added.
