Terrorists In Tripoli Attack Must To Be Held Responsible - UN Security Council President

UNITED NATIONS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th December, 2018) The UN Security Council condemns Tuesday's terrorist attack on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tripoli, Libya, and emphasizes the need to hold the perpetrators responsible for their actions, Council President Kacou Houadja Leon Adom of Cote d'Ivoire said in a statement on Thursday.

"The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the heinous and cowardly terrorist attack on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," Adom said. "The need to hold perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism accountable and bring them to justice."

On Tuesday, a powerful explosion occurred near the Libyan Foreign Ministry in Tripoli in which three people were killed and 21 others injured. At least two of the attackers died at the scene.

Earlier on Thursday, the Islamic State (outlawed in Russia) in a statement carried by the terror group's Amaq news Agency claimed responsibility for the attack.

Adom offered condolences to the victims of the attack and reaffirmed the need for all UN Security Council members to fight terrorism under the UN Charter and other tenets of international law.
