Militants Shelled Settlements In 3 Syrian Provinces Over Past 24 Hours - Russian Military

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th December, 2018) Militants shelled settlements in the Syrian provinces of Latakia, Hama and Aleppo, including the city of Aleppo, over the past 24 hours, head of the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Syrian reconciliation Lt. Gen. Sergei Solomatin said on Thursday.

"Within past 24 hours, militants shelled the village of Sandran, heights of Tall-at-Tut and Tall-Metwasi in the Latakia province, settlements of Abu Dali (twice) and Zalaqiyat in the province of Hama, Kudehi in the Aleppo province as well as the districts of Sukkari (twice) and Zahabia (twice) of the city of Aleppo," Solomatin said.

The official pointed out that within the past 24 hours the Russian Center for Syrian reconciliation had held a humanitarian action in the province of Latakia with civilians having received 250 food kits and another one the province of Damascus with local residents having received 160 kilograms (over 350 Pounds) of confectionery kits, 310 kilograms of children's vitamins as well as books and writing equipment with a weight of 375 kilograms.

He added that as of Wednesday, 212,015 Syrian refugees had returned to their homes.

Syria has been in a state of civil war since 2011, with the government forces fighting against numerous opposition groups, as well as militant and terrorist organizations. Russia, along with Turkey and Iran, is a guarantor of the ceasefire regime in Syria. Moscow has also been providing humanitarian aid to residents of the crisis-torn country.
