Russia to Boost Grain Deliveries to Thailand by Almost 200% in 2018 - Trade Minister

Russian-Thai agriculture trade is expected to grow, and Russia plans to boost the volume of its grain deliveries to Thailand by almost 200 percent in 2018, Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov told Sputnik on Thursday.

BANGKOK (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 27th December, 2018) Russian-Thai agriculture trade is expected to grow, and Russia plans to boost the volume of its grain deliveries to Thailand by almost 200 percent in 2018, Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov told Sputnik on Thursday.

"We have great prospects in agriculture, as we should deliver around 130,000 tonnes of grain to the Thai market by the end of this year. This is a good figure, especially given we delivered 45,000 tonnes last year. So, this is an almost three-times increase," Manturov said.

Manturov, who took part in the session of the Russian-Thai commission for bilateral cooperation, which he chairs, earlier in the day, voiced hope that Russia would continue buying exclusive Thai products and further increasing its exports to Thailand.

"This [planned grain deliveries boost] enables us to expect that, having signed today an agreement between our two phytosanitary services, we'll be able to intensify efforts on these services' cooperation on recognition and acceptance of manufacturers of products that we don't produce and grow. We are interested in continuing purchasing these products from Thailand and we hope for further increase in deliveries of our grain and meat products," Manturov added.

On November 19, Thailand and the Eurasian Economic Union, which Russia is a member of, signed an agreement to boost bilateral trade and increase investment.
