Militants Shelled Settlements In 3 Syrian Provinces Over Past 24 Hours - Russian Military

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 27th December, 2018) Militants shelled settlements in the Syrian provinces of Latakia, Hama and Aleppo over the past 24 hours, head of the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Syrian reconciliation Lt. Gen. Sergei Solomatin said on Wednesday.

"Within past 24 hours the militants shelled the settlements of Sandran and Darh-abu-Asad in the province of Latakia, Tall-Maraq in the province of Hama and Kudehi in the province of Aleppo," Solomatin said.

The official pointed out that within the past 24 hours the Russian Center for Syrian reconciliation had held three humanitarian actions in the provinces of Idlib, Hama and Damascus with civilians having received a tonne of fresh bread, 20 kilograms (44 Pounds) of confectionery kits, 300 kilograms of medicines, 30 kilograms of children's vitamins as well as books and writing equipment with a weight of 45 kilograms.

He added that as of Tuesday, 211,237 Syrian refugees had returned to their homes.

Syria has been in a state of civil war since 2011, with the government forces fighting against numerous opposition groups, as well as militant and terrorist organizations. Russia, along with Turkey and Iran, is a guarantor of the ceasefire regime in Syria. Moscow has also been providing humanitarian aid to residents of the crisis-torn country.
