MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 21st December, 2018) Discrimination and violence against representatives of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), and attempts to prompt clashes between believers are obvious tools of Kiev's political games, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement in connection with a regular report by the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine.
"Facts of discrimination and violence against representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and its service facilities cause serious concern. The split of the church and the deliberate clash of Orthodox believers are obvious tools of Kiev's political games," the ministry said.
It called on the Ukrainian authorities "not to interfere in the affairs of the church, as it should be in a secular state."
