Three Russian Pilots Were On Board Of Crashed Congo Election Commission Plane - Ambassador

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 21st December, 2018) There were 23 people, including three Russian pilots, on board of the plane of the GomAir carrier that in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Russian Ambassador in the DRC Alexei Sentebov told Sputnik on Friday.

Earlier in the day, media reported that the plane performing a flight for the DRC Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) lost contact with the flight control center on Thursday night when the it was within some 25 miles from N'djili airport in Kinshasa. According to the media, there were no survivors among the passengers or the crew.

"According to unconfirmed data, there were 23 people on board, among them three crew members with Russian citizenship. Search and rescue operations are currently underway. The place of the plane crash is unknown. The Names and destiny of our pilots are not known yet," the diplomat said.
