"Considering our special relations with both Palestine and Israel, we want to help them reach a lasting agreement that would give legal guarantees of Israel's lawful security interests," he told reporters after talks with his Palestinian counterpart in Moscow.
The decades-old standoff between Israel and Palestine escalated this month after a covert Israeli operation to kill a Hamas militant commander in Gaza led to a cross-border fire exchange.
Clashes broke out last week in the occupied West Bank after a Palestinian gunman killed two Israeli soldiers, prompting Israel to seal off the territory's main city of Ramallah. Israel has increased military presence in the West Bank, with dozens of Palestinians being detained in raids on daily basis.
