Russia Registered 25 Ceasefire Violations in Syria Over Past 24 Hours - Defense Ministry

The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire has registered 25 truce breaches over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side has recorded ten ceasefire violations, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Frida

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 21st December, 2018) The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire has registered 25 truce breaches over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side has recorded ten ceasefire violations, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Friday.

"[Over the last 24 hours] the Russian party of the Russia-Turkey Commission on violations of the Joint Agreement has registered 25 cases of firing in the provinces of Hama (9), Latakia (10) and Aleppo (6). The Turkish side has registered 10 cases of ceasefire violations in the provinces of Aleppo (3), Hama (5) and Idlib (2)," the ministry's center for Syrian reconciliation said in its daily bulletin.

The reconciliation center has also held one humanitarian operation in Quneitra province, with local residents having received 500 food sets with a total weight of over 2.1 tonnes.

The ministry added that no new ceasefire agreements had been signed within last 24 hours. Thus, the number of settlements that have joined the ceasefire regime remained unchanged, amounting to 2,518. The number of armed formations claiming to observe the ceasefire regime is 234.

Russia, Turkey and Iran are the guarantors of the ceasefire regime in Syria, while Moscow has also been supporting the government forces' fight against terrorist groups, and providing humanitarian aid to civilians.
