Govt all set to open PM House University in Islamabad

The university’s name has been proposed as "Islamabad National University".

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 21st December, 2018) The arrangements to make the PM House University have been completed.

Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived in the ceremony to convert PM House into university. The launching conference was named ‘Emerging Challenges for Pakistan’.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had announced to open the doors of Governor House and make the Prime Minister House a high-quality university even before coming to government.

After coming to power, the PTI government opened the doors of Governor House for the public and fulfilled its promise to the people. However, planning continues to make a university in PM House.

According to the media reports, Federal Ministry of Education has completed the process of making the Prime Minister a research university. The university’s name has been proposed as "Islamabad National University". Under the plan, a research university will be set up on 30 acres of land, which will not only teach governance-related subjects but also provide assistance to various organizations.

According to a report published in a local newspaper, the university on 30-acres land acquired from the polo ground, stables and mountains will be constructed in the second phase. Sources said that a research institute will be made initially which will be further given the status of a university.

In the second phase, the new building will be constructed on 30 acres land of PM House. The "Islamabad National University" will be given an entry and exit from Fourth Avenue Darbar Bari Imam Sarkar. The PM House University will be the country's high quality research university.

Speaking to media, Higher Education Commission Chairman Dr Tariq Banori said that a research institute will be made in the first phase of construction of PM House University. After which, the second phase will provide education at postgraduate level, including MPhil and PhDs while undergraduate programmes will not be offered.
