Russian Angara A5 Rocket To Be Launched For 2nd Time In Late 2019 - Source

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 21st December, 2018) The second launch of the Russian heavy class Angara A5 carrier rocket with a new upper stage and a spacecraft model will be held in late 2019, a source in the aerospace industry told Sputnik on Friday.

"The second launch of the Angara A5 rocket from Plesetsk Cosmodrome as part of flight testing is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2019," the source said.

A new upper stage, which is being constructed by the Energia rocket manufacturer for the Russian Defense Ministry, will be used in this launch, according to the source.

The source added that a model of this upper stage had recently been brought for testing to the TsNIIMash company in Korolyev, Moscow Region, from the Krasnoyarsk Machine Building Plant.

The Angara rocket was set to bring a model of a spacecraft, which would be constructed by the Khrunichev Space Center, to the geostationary orbit, the source added.

The Khrunichev center, which manufactures the Angara family of rockets, has said that the second Angara A5 launch vehicle will be ready for transportation to Plesetsk in April 2019.

The first launch of the rocket was held in December 2014, while the third one is planned for 2020.
