US, Allies to Condemn China for Economic Espionage - Reports

The United States and more than a dozen of its allies are expected to condemn Beijing later on Thursday for economic espionage, US media reported.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th December, 2018) The United States and more than a dozen of its allies are expected to condemn Beijing later on Thursday for economic espionage, US media reported.

The countries, which include Germany, Australia, Britain, Canada and Japan, will call out China's efforts to steal trade secrets and advanced technology, as well as compromise government secrets and corporate computers, the Washington Post reported, citing unidentified Western officials.

The move comes as the US Justice Department is set to unveil criminal charges against hackers associated with China's intelligence service for an alleged long-running campaign against the networks of the United States and other countries.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, Assistant Attorney General for National Security John Demers, FBI Director Christopher Wray and other top law enforcement officials are expected to announce the charges at a press conference on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. local time.

The United States will also announce new sanctions related to the alleged cyber economic espionage effort, according to the report.
