UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres remains focused on the Syrian peace negotiations amid reports that the United States has decided to withdraw its forces from Syria, United Nations spokesman Stephane Dujarric said in a briefing on Wednesday.
UNITED NATIONS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 19th December, 2018) UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres remains focused on the Syrian peace negotiations amid reports that the United States has decided to withdraw its forces from Syria, United Nations spokesman Stephane Dujarric said in a briefing on Wednesday."Our focus and the secretary general's focus remains on the peace process, the political process that is UN led," Dujarric told reporters.
Earlier on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump decided to withdraw the estimated 2,000 US forces deployed in Syria because the Primary goal of the US involvement in the country - defeating the Islamic State terror group (banned in Russia) - has been accomplished, according to media reports.
