According to details, Safdar Shaheen Advocate filed a petition in the LHC against Punjab government’s decision to celebrate Basant.

The petition adopted that Basant has become a bloody festival, causing grave loss of human lives.

Therefore, the bloody festival should not be supported again and Punjab government be barred from celebrating it.

The Punjab government had on Tuesday decided to allow celebrating Basant in Lahore.

Punjab Information Minister Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan gave this good news to the citizens of Lahore.

Addressing a press conference, the minister said that Basant will be celebrated in Lahore in the second week of February.

The Lahoris will celebrate their historic festival, he said.

He added that Basant is a cultural festival.

In his previous press conference, Chohan said that Basant festival creates enormous economic activity and is a source of promoting tourism.

He had stressed that the protection of human life was an important aspect to ponder for the government before allowing Basant festivities.
