Russian national Maria Butina confirmed to a US judge during a hearing on Thursday that she was not forced to enter into a plea agreement with US authorities, a Sputnik correspondent reported from the District Court.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 13th December, 2018) Russian national Maria Butina confirmed to a US judge during a hearing on Thursday that she was not forced to enter into a plea agreement with US authorities, a Sputnik correspondent reported from the District Court.

When asked whether she was forced to agree to plead guilty in exchange for a lighter sentence, Butina said: "No."

Earlier during the hearing, Butina pleaded guilty to conspiring to act as a foreign agent without notifying the US attorney general.
