Sawab Centre celebrates national pride, launches campaign

The Sawab Centre, a joint UAE-US digital communications hub to combat extremist ideologies online and promote positive alternatives, announced the launch of a new campaign on its social media platforms.

ABU DHABI, (Pakistan Point News - 12th Dec, 2018) The Sawab Centre, a joint UAE-US digital communications hub to combat extremist ideologies online and promote positive alternatives, announced the launch of a new campaign on its social media platforms. Under the hashtag of #NationalPride, the two-day campaign will run from 12th - 13th December in Arabic, English and French on Sawab’s Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube platforms.

Sawab’s latest campaign will focus on the important role of patriotism in uniting the diverse members of a community and in dispelling hateful and divisive extremist ideologies. Whether summiting Mt. Everest, fighting terrorism or saving refugees from drowning, #NationalPride will highlight the inspirational stories of national heroes who risk their lives in service to their country and others who make significant contributions through excelling in science, leadership, or the arts.

Sawab will also share the redemptive stories of refugees who were forced to flee from their homelands, but became successful members of their new communities. The campaign will focus on the role of ordinary, unsung citizens who sacrifice for the good of all, and whose good deeds serve as role models for generations to come, in stark contrast to the extremists who aim to break the harmony and stability of diverse societies.

#NationalPride is the Sawab Centre’s thirty-second social media campaign countering extremism and presenting positive alternatives to violent and divisive ideologies. Other Sawab campaigns have focused on terrorism’s devastation of families, communities, and ancient civilisations, as well as positive themes such as inspirational stories of youth impacting their communities for the better and the important contributions of women in preventing and resisting extremism and in advancing their societies.

Since its launch in July 2015, the Sawab Centre has encouraged governments, communities, and individual voices to engage proactively to counteract online extremism. Over this time, the Centre has given voice to the millions of people around the world who oppose extremist ideologies, while supporting efforts to expose terrorist groups’ brutality and criminal nature.
