Saudi Energy Minister Sends Well Wishes to Qatar Ahead of Doha's Exit From OPEC

Saudi Energy Minister Khalid Falih has said that he wished Qatar well amid the latter's plans to leave the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

VIENNA (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th December, 2018) Saudi Energy Minister Khalid Falih has said that he wished Qatar well amid the latter's plans to leave the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

On Monday, Qatar announced its intention to leave the oil cartel starting from January 1, 2019 to concentrate on the liquefied natural gas production.

"We wish them well, whatever they do, they are a sovereign nation. We have many counties that have been elected to join our work, and they have benefited from it. They [Qatar] choose not to, but we believe that work we do with member countries remains important," Falih said.
