BEIJING (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th December, 2018) Huawei Technologies said on Thursday it was unaware of any wrongdoing on the part of its Chief Financial Officer Meng Wanzhou who had been arrested in Canada at the request of the United States.
"The company has limited data on the charges [against Meng]. We are unaware of any illegal actions on the part of Ms. Meng Wanzhou," the company wrote on the Sina Weibo microblogging website.
On Wednesday, Canadian media reported that Meng was arrested in Vancouver last Saturday on suspicion of violating US sanctions against Iran.
The Chinese embassy in Canada has expressed its protest over the arrest of Meng, calling it a violation of human rights. The diplomats also called on Ottawa to immediately release Meng.
