North and South Korea will submit a letter of intent to co-host the 2032 Olympic Games to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in February 2019, media reported on Wednesday, citing the South Korean Sports Ministry.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th December, 2018) North and South Korea will submit a letter of intent to co-host the 2032 Olympic Games to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in February 2019, media reported on Wednesday, citing the South Korean Sports Ministry.

According to Yonhap news Agency, representatives from Seoul and Pyongyang are expected to visit the IOC headquarters in the Swiss city of Lausanne in mid-February 2019 and use the opportunity to submit the letter.

"We tried to deliver the letter of intent to the IOC in early January, but North Korea has yet to confirm its schedule ... IOC President Thomas Bach then asked whether the two Koreas could visit the IOC headquarters on Feb. 15," a Sports Ministry official said, as quoted by the media outlet.

In November, officials from both Koreas discussed a number of issues related to exchanges and cooperation in sports, specifically the matters of a joint bid to host the 2032 Summer Olympic Games, and the joint participation of athletes from both countries in the 2020 Summer Olympics and other international sports events. The sides, in particular, agreed to formally inform the IOC of their intention to co-host the 2032 Olympics.
