US Sanctions on Russian Promsyrioimport Related to Iranian Oil Deliveries Baseless - Novak

Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said on Tuesday that he considered sanctions that the United States had introduced against Russian federal state unitary enterprise Promsyrioimport over Iranian oil deliveries as groundless

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 04th December, 2018) Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said on Tuesday that he considered sanctions that the United States had introduced against Russian Federal state unitary enterprise Promsyrioimport over Iranian oil deliveries as groundless.

"Promsyrioimport will act in strict compliance with the current legislation ... The sanctions are groundless as they don't comply with the international law," Novak told reporters on the sidelines of a forum.

In late November, the US Treasury Department announced that the United States had introduced sanctions against two Russian companies, including Promsyrioimport, which a subsidiary of the Russian Energy Ministry, over their alleged facilitation of Iranian oil deliveries to Syria in circumvention of US sanctions against Iran.
