Shireen Mazari wants Khalilzad to be less arrogant on Pakistan visit

The US special representative will hold meetings with civil and military leadership of the country.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 4th December, 2018) US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation, Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad reached Islamabad on Tuesday.

The US special representative will hold meetings with civil and military leadership of the country. Khalilzad will take the Pakistani leadership in confidence over negotiations with the Taliban.

Commenting on the visit, Federal Minister for Human Rights Dr Shireen Mazari warned Khalilzad to be less arrogant when he comes to Islamabad.

“This time perhaps you should bring a less arrogant and hostile mindset when you visit Islamabad!” the minister wrote in her tweet.

Khalilzad is also set to visit Afghanistan, Russia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Belgium, the UAE and Qatar from December 2 to 20.

Earlier on Monday, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said in a statement that US President Donald Trump had offered Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan to renew the US-Pakistani partnership.

"US President Donald Trump, in his letter addressed to Prime Minister Imran Khan, has stated that his most important regional priority was achieving a negotiated settlement of the Afghan war. In this regard, he has sought Pakistan's support and facilitation. President Trump has also acknowledged that the war had cost both USA and Pakistan. He has emphasized that Pakistan and USA should explore opportunities to work together and renew partnership," the statement read.
