Marking International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Ministry of Community Development, MOCD, has said that it continues with its efforts to ensure People of Determination (persons with disabilities) gain employment opportunities according to the UAE’s policies.
DUBAI, (Pakistan Point News - 03rd Dec, 2018) Marking International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Ministry of Community Development, MOCD, has said that it continues with its efforts to ensure People of Determination (persons with disabilities) gain employment opportunities according to the UAE’s policies.
In a statement, the ministry noted that the number of such employed persons in the UAE has reached 805.
Hessa Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development, revealed a comprehensive action plan to activate the decision of the UAE Cabinet towards the national policy for People of Determination and ensure the e-link connection with different recruitment entities on the government, Federal levels and the private sector in order to facilitate the communication process with People of Determination and find suitable employment opportunities for them.
MoCD provides a package of diversified programmes to empower and train them with continuous motivation to complete their university studies, upgrade their qualifications and train them to seek better job opportunities that can fit the market’s future needs and requirements, the minister explained.
Buhumaid emphasised that during the next period the ministry will focus on specialised training programmes targeting employers and co-workers to facilitate and ensure the acceptance of these categories in a positive psychological atmosphere and also modify the working environments in terms of the infrastructure and required technologies to accommodate their needs.
She noted that since the launch of the platform last April, they have communicated with 20 government, federal and local authorities and the private sector to view employment applications, and also held nine meetings with officials to target employment for the People of Determination, examine their applications and find a suitable employment opportunity that matches their capabilities, noting that the recruitment platform embodies the pillars of the national policy.
The UAE Cabinet Resolution No. 43 of 2018 supports their employment and ensures their right to work on an equal basis, provides equal employment opportunities and non-discrimination in respect of working benefits while noting that their employment is a national mission and everyone in the community shares the same responsibilities.
"The recruitment platform mirrors the National Policy of the empowerment of People of Determination especially in vocational rehabilitation and employment programmes to provide employment to the People of Determination according to the type and level of disability and the needs of the labour market. The vocational programmes were launched in cooperation with different government and private entities to check the working environment and achieve employment adaptability and employment stability," Buhumaid concluded.
