"The current summit was held against the backdrop of rising protectionism and a policy of unilateral actions. The joint communique adopted by the leaders was an important positive signal that gave a new impetus and instilled confidence in the international market," Geng said at a press briefing.
The Chinese official added that the results of the summit had shown that, as an important international forum for economic cooperation, the G20 continued to play a significant role in international economic issues.
The G20 Summit was held in the Argentine capital from November 30 to December 1. The annual event resulted in its participants adopting a final declaration that reaffirmed the need to reform the World Trade Organization as well as their commitment to use all political means to achieve economic growth. The parties also vowed to work together to address the causes of growing refugee numbers and provide humanitarian aid to displaced people.
