Rider of online taxi service loots citizen on gun point

Incidents of crime keep surfacing with the users of these services.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 1st December, 2018) While ride hailing apps have provided an easy transport facility, incidents of crime also keep surfacing with the users of these services.

In a fresh, a user of ride hailing app Muhammad Tahir had requested for a bike on Nov 26 at 1am.

Tahir said that when the driver reached the corner of the street, he had called him there. Tahir went to him and sat on the bike. Going little further, the rider looted him on gun point and went away with his mobile phone and wallet.

When Tahir lodged a complaint with the app, they identified him as Imran but gave no other details.

Muhammad Tahir filed a complaint in Ferozabad police station but despite all the effort, the robber could not be arrested.

When the report was aired on media, SSP East had ordered the rider’s arrest.

The incident has raised concerns among the users of ride hailing apps while the lack of cooperation on the part of the service is also alarming.
